Qualifications You Need

Combination of plumbing, tiling, and carpentry skills. Level 2 NVQ in Plumbing plus tiling experience. Part P awareness for electrical work near water. Unvented hot water (G3) useful.

Training Route

Bathroom fitting is a multi-trade role. Most bathroom fitters started in plumbing or tiling and expanded their skills. There is no single bathroom fitting qualification - it requires competence across plumbing, tiling, carpentry, basic electrics, and plastering. This versatility commands premium rates.

A Day in the Life

Strip out old bathroom. First fix plumbing - reposition waste and supply pipes. Board out with moisture-resistant board. Tank shower areas with liquid membrane. Tile walls and floor. Second fix plumbing - fit bath, basin, toilet, shower. Silicone seal everything. Fit accessories.
